Formula 1 has extended its contract with the Belgian Grand Prix but one of the sport’s most established races is set to be dropped from the schedule in 2028 and 2030.

Formula 1 and the Belgian Grand Prix are in agreement with a new deal that will keep the race on the schedule on a rotating basis through 2031. The multi-year extension will see the F1 drivers flock to the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in 2026,

The future of the Belgian Grand Prix has been secured with Spa Francorchamps continuing to host races until 2031 albeit on a rotational basis.

Formula 1 will return to Spa-Francorchamps for four more races until 2031, but the event drops off the calendar in 2028 and 2030.

F1 organizers announced on Wednesday that the Belgian race will run on a biennial basis starting from 2027. The latest contract extension, which was just signed, runs through 2031 and includes races in 2025, 2026, 2027, 2029, and 2031.

The deal means the fixture at Spa-Francorchamps – which is among the most recognisable in F1 – will be omitted from the schedule in 2028 and 2030.

Formula One has announced a new six-year extension with the Belgian Grand Prix on a rotational basis. Doubts have surrounded the future of F1 at Spa, but the historic race, which started in 1925, will now return in four of the next season seasons.

The extension includes the 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031 grand prix seasons which follows significant investment at the circuit in recent years, including the addition of two new grandstands - increasing capacity by 10,

The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will drop off the Formula One calendar in 2028 and 2030 as part of a contract extension announced on Wednesday to host four races in the six years to 2031.
