System in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico increases chance of formation to 80%, NHC reports

A tropical depression is likely to form in the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico this week, according to the National Hurricane Center. What is not yet known is whether this system will continue to develop into a tropical storm or a hurricane.

FIRST ALERT: Tropical development expected this week for area in Caribbean Sea

As of Sunday morning, there is a 70% chance of development for a broad area of low pressure in the western Caribbean Sea that has been producing showers and storms over portions of Central America.
