The Rays will play their 2025 home games at the Yankees’ nearby spring training ballpark amid uncertainty about the damaged Tropicana Field.

The Rays found a place to play for the 2025 season without having to go too far — Tampa’s George M. Steinbrenner Field, the spring training home of the rival New York Yankees. The Rays had been looking for an interim home since Hurricane Milton caused extensive damage to Tropicana Field last month.

In a news release Thursday, the Rays announced they would be playing their regular season games at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

An official damage report of Tropicana Field has been released just one month after Hurricane Milton shredded its roof, resulting in significant damage to the home of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team.

Hurricane Milton barreled into the west coast of Florida last month and left a path of destruction in its wake. This included the roof of Tropicana Field where the Tampa Bay Rays have played all of its home games since the team's inaugural season in 1998.

Tropicana Field, damaged by the winds of Hurricane Milton, will not be ready for play until at least the start of the 2026 season.
