Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the Texas man accused of crashing a truck into New Year's Day revelers in New Orleans, killing 14 and injuring dozens, was an Army veteran struggling to get past a recent divorce but who showed no signs of anger just weeks prior to the attack,

Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42, has been identified as the suspect who drove a car into a crowd of people along Bourbon Street around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Jabbar was shot and killed by officers after opening fire on them during the attack. Two New Orleans police officers were injured.

"There has been a mass casualty incident on Canal and Bourbon Street. Get yourself away from the area," NOLA Ready said.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Bourbon Street, the legendary party district in the heart of New Orleans. The truck driver apparently drove through or around barricades meant to stop traffic from entering the street, officials said.
