Following the launch of an adult-use market last August, Ohio saw more than $675 million in total legal marijuana sales in 2024, according to data from the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control through Dec. 28. That amount is about 40% more than the $484 million in cannabis sold in 2023 — which, of course, only featured medical sales.

Ohio recreational marijuana sales surpassed $242 million as 2024 came to a close. The state’s total recreational marijuana sales were $242,167,020, as of Dec. 28, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Cannabis Control.

In five months, $242 million has been spent in Ohio on recreational marijuana sales. Darius Walter, who works at downtown Columbus dispensary Nar Reserve, said that number did not surprise him. He said business is booming.

Profits from sales of recreational marijuana are in the tens of millions, the Division of Cannabis Control reports.
