For the first time, the Sensex has surged past 85,000 points, continuing a record-breaking streak in the Indian stock market, driven by gains in the steel and automotive sectors. Among the top performers in the 30-share Sensex were Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and Powergrid, while Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, and Bajaj Finance were among the laggards.

Indian stock market indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, paused on September 24 after a three-day rally to record highs, spurred by the US Fed's 50 basis point rate cut on September 18. Weakness in IT and FMCG stocks weighed on the Nifty, while gains in metal and power stocks provided some support.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 25,990 level, a premium of nearly 75 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Gift Nifty is trading at a premium of about 50 points compared to Nifty Futures Monday wrap up, indicating that the Asian markets positive outlook has contributed to the Indian markets strong start thanks to the early gains.
