Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando have made some operational changes in response to Hurricane Helene. The Category 3 storm is headed for the Big Bend area of Florida.

In a special update from the National Hurricane Center, Helene made landfall just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River. This is about 10 miles west-southwest of Perry, Florida. Based on data from Air Force reconnaissance aircraft, the maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 140 mph.

As Hurricane Helene barrels through Florida, the state’s theme parks are responding. Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida announced that it will be closing its doors on Friday, September 27, after the storm damaged attractions at the preschool experience.
