The kingdom signed a new defense pact with Pakistan a week after Israel carried out a missile attack targeting Hamas political officials in Qatar, another key U.S. Arab Gulf partner.
The pact is the first firm defence decision made by a Gulf Arab country since Israel’s attack on Qatar last week.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (today) at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, accompanied by key Cabinet members. During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince to review the entire spectrum of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations.
