Airport Fire initially started 1:21 p.m. Sep. 9 in Orange, Riverside County. After being active for 17 days, it has burned 23,526 acres. A crew of 461 firefighters has been working on site and, by Thursday morning, they managed to contain 95% of the fire. The wildfire originated from equipment usage.

The County of Orange has received the first claim over losses from the Airport fire that has destroyed a reported 160 structures and damaged another 34.
