The 45-year-old victim was stabbed on a northbound 4 train just before 3 a.m. at the 138th Street–Grand Concourse station in Mott Haven, according to police.

Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa has asked her Chinese counterpart to ensure the safety of Japanese citizens there after a 10-year-old schoolboy was fatally stabbed.

TOKYO – Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa will meet her Chinese counterpart, Mr Wang Yi, in New York on Sept 23, the foreign ministry said. Ms Kamikawa will request that security be enforced following the stabbing of a Japanese schoolboy in China, public broadcaster NHK reported.

BEIJING: China's top diplomat Wang Yi told his Japanese counterpart that he hoped Tokyo would handle the fatal stabbing of a schoolboy in the southern city of Shenzhen "calmly and rationally", China's foreign ministry said on Tuesday (Sep 24).
