The Trump administration is backing down in a multi-state legal fight over sweeping actions taken by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this month that jeopardized and potentially terminated the immigration status of thousands of international students studying in the United States.

A federal judge has agreed to temporarily block the Trump administration from implementing an executive order that a labor union says would cancel collective bargaining rights for hundreds of thousands of federal employees.

The judge suggested during a hearing Wednesday that the administration's moves appear targeted toward unions that have opposed his agenda.
