The Federal Aviation Administration says an air traffic controller’s instructions kept an American Airlines flight from hitting mountains near Honolulu International Airport in Hawaii.

The American Airlines flight was departing from Honolulu to Los Angeles when it performed an "expedited climb."

An American Airlines flight departing from Hawaii had to make an "expedited climb" in order to avoid hitting a mountain during takeoff. There are no reports of injuries on the flight and the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating.
