A police officer flew to Turkey for a holiday on the same day that he reported sick for duty, a misconduct panel has heard. Raja Khan, of Leicestershire Police, reported sick on 5 October while on a rest day, two days before his next shift, before flying to Istanbul that same evening.

A lying police officer who told his boss he was too sick for duty on the same day he flew out to Turkey for a holiday was caught red-handed when he returned to the UK.

To cover his tracks, ex-PC Raja Khan even asked a third party to access his police laptop at home, submit a sickness form on his behalf and send an email to his line manager
