President Donald Trump will sign a proclamation recognizing February as Black History Month after some federal observances were paused for DEI concerns.

The Defense Intelligence Agency also ordered the suspension of events marking LGBTQ Pride Month, Juneteenth and Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Beginning Feb. 1, schools, museums and communities across the nation will mark the start of Black History Month — a celebration of Black history, culture and education. The history of the month dates back almost a century, and the way it is celebrated and evolved has created history in itself.

On Friday, Trump recognized that this February is National Black History Month, an annual tradition that presidents have done since 1976. This year's celebration comes amid the administration's efforts to end DEI initiatives in the federal government.
