Harry Brook scored 110 runs off 94 balls as England made it 1-2 in the series with a 46-run win over Australia at the Riverside Ground in Chester-Le-Street.

The England and Australia ODI series has been tacked on to a long summer to make a splash of quick cash. It feels like one encore too many.

Playing without explosive opener Travis Head (rested) and star spinner Adam Zampa (ill), Australia was put into bat and needed a strong finish — mainly thanks to Alex Carey’s unbeaten 77 and No. 8 batter Aaron Hardie’s 44 off 26 — to post 304-7 off its 50 overs.
