Pacific Airshow this month dropped its lawsuit against former Huntington Beach Mayor Kim Carr that had accused her of wrongly canceling the final day of the 2021 air show after an oil spill was discovered off the coast.

In September Huntington Beach sued Bonta, Newsom and state Supt. of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond in response to Assembly Bill 1955. It prevents school officials from requiring teachers to reveal students’ sexual orientation or expressed gender identity to relatives.

An Orange County Superior Court judge on Friday handed a legal victory to Huntington Beach in its battle to require residents to show ID when voting.

The ruling opens the door for the city to implement ID requirements at polling places, a first in Orange County.
