Another blast of winter storms is closing schools, snarling flights and putting millions of residents on alert across parts of the Deep South and south-central U.S. The National Weather Service says heavy snowfall and icy conditions are likely Friday in Mississippi,

Schools as far south as El Paso, Texas, closed due to a polar vortex that has brought historically low temperatures and snowfall to parts of the U.S.

Nashville and the surrounding areas are set to be blanketed with snow on Friday. Here's which schools are closed.

The warning for Lincoln, Moore, and Franklin Counties runs from Midnight Friday to 6 AM Saturday. The rest of Middle TN and Southern KY are under the warning from 3 AM Friday to 6 AM Saturday. It is a good setup for accumulating snow with cold air in place and a low-pressure center coming from the Gulf with lots of moisture.
