Warner Bros. Discovery has launched a new AI-powered solution to automatically generate closed captions for content on its Max streaming service — saving considerable time and money, according to the media company.

The studio aims to cut time and costs with a new caption-generation tool using artificial intelligence in the production pipeline.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is partnering with Google Cloud to generate closed captioning for content on the studio’s Max streaming service in the US. WBD will use a new “caption AI” solution that runs on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform to generate speech-to-text for some shows, starting with “unscripted programming.”
